Apologies for the slightly self-serving and icky post, but … a commenter seems to have taken exception to my earlier rather mild observations on the media tart and western sycophant known as the Dalai Lama. Apparently, I am a ‘Stalinist and an apologist for the strong-arm tactics of the Maoists and the PRC‘. Oh my, what a compliment. Must add that to the list of glowing assessments in my ‘about’ page.

“I don’t know much about Tibet or its political history so can’t comment on this aspect of Boer’s rant”
That shoulda been the end of the discussion, if you know nothing, shut the frakk up!

And yet, your Taiwanese publishers came up with 展開 for “Author’s Cut”. Where is the Bladerunner (银翼杀手) allusion in that? If 展開 is some subtle Sino-Hebrew pun on 1 Sam. 18.4′s תפשט’ I’m afraid that the connection will simply be lost on most of your readers.
This would never have happened if you hadn’t sold out to that Capitalist Island and published instead in the glorious PRC.

Sigh, I know. But the prestigious Renmin University Press will publish a translation of Criticism of Earth, copies of which arrived in the mail yesterday.

Renmin. Bit tired.

Renmin is of course the People’s University of China – 中国人民大学 – Renda for short, from Renmin Dashue. Here party cadres are trained in what was the first national university established by the PRC. Can’t beat that for communist cred.
