Having lived in Oslo last year for about four months, the tragedy in Norway feels a little closer to home. It’s a shocker, a direct assault on the strong social democratic fabric of Norwegian society.
However, the right is, as usual, very swift to assert its narrative on events. Initially, there were suggestions of Al Qaeda, but as soon as it became clear it was not – the man arrested is a 32-year-old Norwegian, tall, blond, blue-eyed – the media was full of the ‘lone madman’ hypothesis. ‘A Madman’s Work: 91 dead in Norway attacks’ trumpets the bourgeois Sydney Morning Herald, in tune with the Murdoch paper, Perth News.
But then, contrary evidence began to roll out: Anders Behring Breivik is a self-described conservative Christian, his blog posted anti-Islamic and anti-gay attacks, as well as criticisms of Norway’s well-established multiculturalist tradition. And he bombed and shot the offices of the ruling Social Democratic Party, as well as the S-D youth camp, where many of the left’s future leaders may be found.
So how does the liberal bourgeois and right-wing media respond? The Australian and The Daily Telegraph (Murdoch rags) stress that it is ‘too early’ to make any connections between his right-wing views and the attacks. Or the mind-boggling argument that he may have expressed such views, but that he has ‘no known links to hardcore extremists‘. They all cast the comments of a police spokesperson in such a light. While he emphasises that the attacks had no connections with Al Qaeda, the comments are framed in a way that leads to the conclusion that he had no connections with any organisation at all. (Although the Zionist blog, Gates of Vienna wants to maintain that he is both right-wing and a jihadist!)
Thankfully, the Norwegian and Swedish media are more sane and realistic. The chief editor of the magazine Expo, Daniel Poohl, points out that it is important that people understand that this was not a lone man who has run amok. According to Poohl, ‘This is not a lone lunatic. He is part of a political battle. His actions are a consequence of the world of ideas in which he exists’.

Agreed entirely, Roland.
That the corporation driven media is so much more willing to make this guy to be an “extremist scapegoat” without looking at the rise of right wing hate groups is appalling. But this does play into the liberal/neo-liberal myth of racism as an individual, private sin rather than something institutionalized and political.

Turns out he used to be a member of the right-wing FRP, or ‘Progress’ Party, which is stong on nationalism, against immigration (read ‘in favour of racism’) and lower taxes.

This kind of violence can be expected by mans claiming in word alone Christianity, and be anti gay or whatever sexuality. They do not use reason, and hence will cause mayhem. That human if he does not repent will not survive Gods light no matter how pretty he looks outwardly to the human eye.

This kind of violence can be expected by human animals that wear clothing claiming in word alone to be Christians being anti gay or whatever sexuality. What the Norwegians experienced is the act of a real Sodomite, or pre flood human. Noah allowing a pre flood human on that boat would have been just as devastating to Noah, and the life during the 40 day duration even as that lunatic killed those humans in Norway thinking it was good. That human if he does not repent will not survive Gods light no matter how pretty he looks outwardly to the human eye.

The media also trots out platitudes about Norway being a ‘peace-loving’ country, you know, since they give out the Nobel Prize and shit. By contrast, Norway has a long history of neo-fascist violence, with a spate of shootings and robberies, especially in the 90s.

I suspected as much.

KJV, Galatians 5:22-23, is good fruit, and Matthew 7:16.King James Bible
Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? One should know what Bad fruit is, and what good fruit is. Not having good fruits is not having Yahweh in you to produce good fruit in a body that dies.

Merely stating what what is a common thought by humans being confirmed by what you just said commonly viewed by humans even as the Aryan like man depicted in the movie Shrek.
24 July, 2011 at 7:41 pm
This is a nice piece about the reporting on the attacks. The front pages of the British press were interesting yesterday, because you had the Sun declaring an ‘Al-Qaida Massacre’ while the Mirror had a photo of the Aryan pin-up boi on their front page. Even ‘quality’ press felt obliged to speculate on Al Qaida’s possible motivations, even when their reporting mentioned a blonde Norwegian speaking man arrested at the scene.
Further to Comrade Boer’s point about Norway being a less that entirely peaceful place; the black metal underground is another example of this. For two decades now there’s been a thriving subculture that entirely refutes on a point-by-point manner all the achievements of contemporary Scandinavia.

Actually, in his 1500 word “manifesto” I downloaded , on page 1373, he outlines his religious views:
Religion: Christian, Protestant but I support a reformation of Protestantism leading to it being absorbed by Catholisism. The typical “Protestant Labour Church” has to be deconstructed as its creation was an attempt to abolish the Church.
Religious: I went from moderately to agnostic to moderately religious.
It’s wrong to describe him as a fundamentalist; for him – as for most of the European far-right (such as the BNP in the UK) – Christianity is a civilizational and affective identity rather than a confessional/propositional one.

I was careful to say he is ‘conservative’. ‘Civilizational’ is not quite correct, ‘affective’ is closer, since his position fits a conservative Scandinavian position in which Christianity is vital for national and ethnic identity – even though most people don’t bother with stepping inside a church. It’s a widespread move (xenophobic etc), common across the legal political spectrum, but increasingly common on the right.

You mean 1500 page book. Yah, i got a copy from a friend. Read through the first 100 pages. All about his interpretation of Islam and the Crusades, Western empire so far.
25 July, 2011 at 12:36 am
Though I was wrong — page 1304 (section 1.349) … “The Bible and self defense”… “You can either choose to learn how to rise up in the power of your Lord and Saviour and learn how to become a true warrior in the Lord, or you can continue to keep your head in the sand and oppressor after oppressor keep beating you down. The choice is yours.” (page 1306) This still strikes me as an after-thought though; I think I’m right that he views Christianity as an ethnic identity rather than a confessional one. The whole tone of the piece is really quite secular; this is the only place where I see scripture sited. The rest of the time it’s about an EU conspiracy to build a European-Arab super-state or the self-evident problems of racial mixing: “It is obvious that Nordic entertainment super-stars like Scarlett Johansson (60-70% Nordic purity), Gwyneth Paltrow (70-80%)Pamela Anderson (90-95%), Paris Hilton (70-80%), Taylor Swift (80-90%) would have never been where they are today hadn’t it been for their distinct
Nordic physical characteristics. … So why not embrace their Nordic gift by contributing to preserve Nordic culture instead of throwing it away and robbing their children of the same opportunities they once received?” (p 1139)
25 July, 2011 at 8:24 am
And it’s tied up with the claim to find the authentic Norwegian identity in the pre-colonial, pagan phase – hence ‘new norwegian’, the reconstructed original language. Nothing like a bit of mythical Nordic origins (hey, wasn’t that a fascist argument, about the origins of humanity in true north?)
25 July, 2011 at 12:47 am
@EBY,
Yeah, using biblical justification at the end is really not a fundamentalist thing to do; they usually do that stuff throughout their books, quoting the bible anachronistically.
“Scarlett Johansson (60-70% Nordic purity), Gwyneth Paltrow (70-80%)Pamela Anderson (90-95%), Paris Hilton (70-80%), Taylor Swift (80-90%)”
Well, he certainly has fine taste in women. Guess he has a thing for blondes.
We can say one thing though. He is great at plagiarizing:

This guy
http://kenwalters.wordpress.com/2011/07/24/2083-a-european-decleration-of-independence/
claims he plagiarized from the Dutch politician Geert Wilders (but that Wilders stuff was just written by the Israeli secret service anyway, so, you know….)
There’s different people “Fjordman” etc. who contribute stuff to that document, as well as him reproducing stuff from Robert Spencer, etc. but I think they’re all just him…
… I think the strangest part of it I’ve come across so far is about the system of military decorations he set up (p 1058 onwards)… “Lord of War Commendation … The candidate has successfully built and used a weapon of mass destruction (WMD) executing/killing at least 10 category A, B or C traitors in the process. … LW – Gold sword – Involving a nuclear WMD.”
He just descends into full-blown videogame mode at some points…
Oh, and he has a plan to reform the churches (p 1112 onwards)…

Video game mode! wow! Thats like an RPG like World of Warcraft. (nope, never played it, dont know if i ever will).
He also liked himself some Tea Party:

Jesus who is God who is Yahweh who is Lord does not swing a sword. Had Jesus swung a sword he would have done so when he was betrayed in Gethsemane with a kiss. However Peter swung the sword, and the churches have followed Peter, and not that of the meek Jesus. Follow Jesus, and save your soul. Follow Peter trying to save the body, and lose the soul, do you agree?
25 July, 2011 at 5:25 am
@JH
“Follow Jesus, and save your soul. Follow Peter trying to save the body, and lose the soul, do you agree?”
Nope, not in the least bit. From the story of the tower of Babel to Joseph in Egypt to the Exodus to the judges to the Jews in exile to the story of Jesus, I see no reason to believe in your dualism, the separation of the soul from the body. In fact, if you affirm the bodily resurrection, as well as these stories mentioned above, then obviously God’s mission involves the redemption of human bodies.
You’re welcome.
25 July, 2011 at 5:50 am
Our body has blood in it,and all things that die will burn with fervent heat when God comes back, and save the soul, and then the soul will get a body of flesh, and bone like Jesus got when he raised up from the dead, and had the ability to go through walls into the locked room where the disciples were lock inside. You want to cross swords with me? 2 Peter 3:10;King James Bible
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. We are made up of elements. Jesus has to be in our soul to love all, and that means all, and that means the naked human walking wherever, and the gay,and the one who pleases, and is pleased sexually by another species called the zoosexual, and the Pedo too, etc, etc.

Thats just such a wonderful reading of the New Testament. So original. Don’t know how anyone could possibly overlook that passage and disagree with you.
Why don’t you take a gander at 1st Corinthians 15? Yes, its even in you KJV.
25 July, 2011 at 5:11 pm
Upon retrospect you could have a point. when Jesus raised up from the dead he still had the marks on his body caused by the crucifixion, and that means the outward marks to the flesh will still be seen on our bodies, but the body will be different not having blood in it being immortal able to live in Gods glorious light.
25 July, 2011 at 5:51 pm
I dont know about the body not having blood, but you are going in the right direction.
25 July, 2011 at 8:10 am
Dear Rod: I read I Corinthians 15 KJV, and it is a beautiful passage of scripture^^. I am waiting that day.
25 July, 2011 at 8:15 am
Dear Jonathan,
That’s great.
Now you should reject everything you argued in your prior post, because its the direct opposite of what you said: God gives us new bodies, in other words, the material can live forever, and so we dont have to hope in “soul separation.”
In other words, our bodies are important.
