Here we are in the hurricane-blasted New Orleans (with a nod to one of Nick Cave’s phrases – baby-blasted mothers) at the Society of Biblical Literature. I finally had a chance to look at the program book and found out that I have two papers this afternoon, one called ‘Bloodthirsty Little Brats, or, the Child’s Desire for Biblical Violence’ and the other a response to Burton Mack’s book Myth and The Christian Nation.

However, I am keeping a keen eye out for papers on the following themes, all related the some current research interests:

1) Hittites

2) bestiality (especially hippophilia)

3) Paul and sex

4) ancient economics

5) anything by Vahan Hovhanessian – with a name like that you deserve to have someone come and listen

So far only 4 and 5 have come up with at least something
